After stop two of our “staycation” in Chula Vista, we were ready to get back to reality and some more affordable accommodations but we had no idea where we wanted to go. We loved the weather we had in Palm Springs and we were kicking ourselves for not making a trip up to Joshua Tree National Park while we were so close. At the same time, Palm Springs is far from the place you want to go to save money after being on vacation for a month and unfortunately, our rig is not really compatible with the camping available inside Joshua Tree National Park. A couple we met on the road recommended an RV park in Twentynine Palms which is near the national park where Robin determined she wanted to spend her birthday weekend. Continue reading
In the last blog I discussed how, instead of spending money on a week long vacation, we decided to do a month long snowbird style “staycation” and increase our spending for the month by approximately what a week long vacation would have cost us. Years ago we decided that a nice week long vacation is a good way to spend a big birthday like say 40. When Robin turned 40 we did a week completely off work at an all inclusive in Mexico where we lounged on the beach or by the pool, snorkeled, learned to scuba dive, and took full advantage of the all inclusive resort food and drink privileges. After a fun but expensive two weeks in Monterey, we decided to gamble on a little RV and golf resort we found online. Somewhere between Fresno, California and the middle of nowhere was The Lakes RV and Golf Resort in Chowchilla, California. Continue reading

So we have fallen a little behind on the blog. Been a busy work winter and unlike last year, our weather has been great. That means less down time inside writing blogs and more time playing on the beach and golf courses. With weather hammering our friends and family in the Midwest and Northeast, we thought it might be a good time to get caught up on the blog in a photo journalistic way.
After leaving the San Fran suburbs in early November, we were ready for some beach time and an out of the way park in Pescadero, California did the trick for a week. Continue reading

We have decided to share more on our Facebook page and that may have also taken some of the wind out of our blog writing sail.
